Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Todd Straub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Taker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Todd Straub!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jim Taker!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Straub.
Taker throws a nice looking combination but Straub bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Taker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Straub throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Taker tries to clinch but Straub moves out of range.
Taker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Taker looks for a takedown but Straub sprawls well.
Taker misses with a takedown
and Straub counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Todd Straub has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Taker.

Straub closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Straub lands in his opponent's guard.
Taker wants to stand and escape but Straub is having none of it.
Taker will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Taker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jim Taker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taker misses with a double jab
and Straub counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Straub throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Straub tries to clinch but Taker moves out of range.
Taker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Straub sprawls well. Straub wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taker gets slowly back to his feet.

Straub keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Taker throws a nice inside leg kick.
Straub takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Taker dodges the punch combination from Straub.
Taker fakes the leg kick and cracks Straub in the body.
Taker misses with a jab, cross combination.

Straub scores with a takedown into Taker's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Taker seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Straub passes Taker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Straub is trying to control the action in half guard but Taker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Taker scores with a few weak punches.
Straub wants to pass the guard but Taker is defending well.

Taker looks like he's trying to stand up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Straub wants to control from the top but Taker keeps moving.

Straub not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Taker tries to keep at a distance but Straub has taken the fight into the clinch.

Taker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Taker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Straub avoids it really well and circles away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A left and a right from Straub both land. Nice combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Taker misses with an uppercut. Straub saw that one coming.
Straub checks a leg kick.
Taker darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Taker misses the target.
Taker stuffs the takedown attempt from Straub. Straub gets slowly back to his feet.

and Straub counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Straub content to control rather than advance.
Taker is not content to let Straub control the position.
Straub is really struggling to control Taker but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Taker desperately trying to maintain half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Todd Straub wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Taker takes a swing at Straub's ribcage but misses.

Straub tries to close the distance and clinch but Taker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Taker shoots in looking for a takedown. Straub tries to sprawl out of it but Taker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Straub manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Straub closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taker to the mat! Taker manages to get full guard.

Straub stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Straub wants it to stay on the feet.

Taker tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Straub's elbow.

Taker is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Straub gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Taker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Taker swats away the attempt to clinch by Straub.
Straub tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Taker tries for a takedown. No joy.
Straub is working for takedown but Taker is calmly controlling the position for now.

Straub lands a takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Straub's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

A head kick from Taker lands but Straub takes it in his stride.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Taker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Straub circles away quickly and effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
Todd Straub showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Straub has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
