Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stephen Cerrone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ac Res!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Res wants to clinch.
Cerrone looks to clinch

and Res counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Res.
Res sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cerrone's guard.

Res is looking for a kimura but Cerrone is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Res to get the leverage.
Cerrone manages to get to full guard.
Res stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cerrone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cerrone wants to stand but Res is controlling the position.

Res drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cerrone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Res has Cerrone in his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cerrone wants to control from the top but Res keeps moving.
Cerrone looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Res looking for a guillotine here but Cerrone defends easily.
Res keeping moving, preventing Cerrone from controlling successfully.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cerrone is really struggling to control Res but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Stephen Cerrone wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Res wants to clinch up but Cerrone keeps it at a distance.

Cerrone closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cerrone lands in his opponent's guard.

Res had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cerrone defends it easily.
Cerrone trying to control but Res is working from the bottom.

Cerrone passes Res's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Cerrone trying to pass the guard but Res defending well.

Cerrone is looking for a kimura but Res is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cerrone to get the leverage.

Cerrone wants to work for an arm triangle but Res is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cerrone stands up and beckons Res to join him on the feet.
Cerrone swats away the attempt to clinch by Res.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Res.
Res fails with the takedown
and Cerrone counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Res misses with a two punch combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Cerrone's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cerrone swats away the attempt to clinch by Res.
Res misses with a takedown attempt
and Cerrone cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Stephen Cerrone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ac Res.
Res looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cerrone circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Cerrone counter with a right hand.
Cerrone scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A left and a right from Cerrone both land. Nice combination.

Res decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cerrone gets full guard.

Cerrone pushes Res off and scrambles back to his feet.
Cerrone scores with a nice right hand.

Cerrone displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Res.
Res fails with the takedown
and Cerrone makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Res looks gassed!

Cerrone moves into range and clinches up with Res.
Cerrone scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Cerrone throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ress head.
Res is trying to break free.
Res's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Cerrone lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Res backwards.
Res is trying to maintain a safe position but Cerrone gets an underhook and turns Res into the cage.
Res is working for takedown but Cerrone is calmly controlling the position for now.
Res tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Res is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cerrone to keep the fight standing.
Cerrone lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Cerrone softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A hook to the body from Cerrone.
Cerrone scores with a shoulder strike.
Cerrone doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Res manages to pull guard.
Res keeping moving, preventing Cerrone from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Cerrone dominated that round.
That's time! Cerrone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Res has his takedown stuffed
and Cerrone counters with a straight that turns Res's legs to rubber! Cerrone pushes forward with more strikes and Res goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
