The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bredenberg changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Santiago looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santiago is trying to improve his position.
Bredenberg controls the position.
Santiago tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bredenberg wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bredenberg wants to control but Santiago is keeping him busy.
Santiago is trying to escape the position but Bredenberg is controlling the position.
Santiago tries to buck Bredenberg off but Bredenberg is having none of it.
Bredenberg is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Bredenberg ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Santiago moves away.
Bredenberg shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bredenberg showed some decent athleticism there.

Santiago is looking to improve his position but Bredenberg isn't that keen on the idea.

Santiago flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Bredenberg anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Santiago and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Bredenberg slips an arm under Santiago chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Bredenberg has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Bredenberg is squeezing on Santiago like an anaconda would it's prey. Santiago fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
