The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Warren swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Warren fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Essien. Warren tries to clinch but Essien is having none of it. Essien tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Warren swivels and escapes. Warren checks the leg kick. Essien lands a jab-cross combination. Warren tries to keep at a distance but Essien has taken the fight into the clinch. Warren is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Essien lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Essien controlling the action here for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round. Warren tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Essien counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Warren with a poor takedown and Essien counters by clinching up. Warren misses with a knee strike.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Essien misses with a double jab
and Warren counters with a series of strikes. Essien will be more careful next time no doubt. Essien wants to clinch up but Warren keeps it at a distance. Essien misses with a two punch combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Essien throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Warren sees it coming and avoids it easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Essien looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Essien moves into the clinch. Essien avoiding damage as Warren throws knees to the body.

Essien has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Warren uses from the top position. Warren pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Essien is keeping the position for now. Essien doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Essien lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Warren tries to buck Essien off but he can't manage it. Essien looking to control but Warren is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Essien is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Warren is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Essien is landing with some decent strikes but Warren is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Warren moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Warren has his feet on Essien's thighs here. He's pushed Essien off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Essien screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
