Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silvas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: LMFAO. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silvas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter avoids the head kick by Silvas.
Carter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Silvas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Carter should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Silvas darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.
Silvas is struggling to control the position.
Silvas breaks from the clinch.
Carter tries for a takedown but Silvas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silvas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Anderson Silvas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nate Carter.

Horrible takedown by Carter or perhaps it was just good defense by Silvas which made him look bad.

Silvas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silvas lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silvas has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silvas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Silvas tries to land a leg kick but Carter saw it coming and moves away.
Carter misses with a takedown attempt - Silvas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carter has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Silvas.
Silvas throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Silvas connects with a high kick.
It looks like Nate Carter has been cut.
Silvas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.
Silvas clinches with his opponent.
Silvas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carter is trying desperately to land a takedown but Silvas is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Carter.
Silvas has closed the distance and engaged Carter in a clinch.
Carter is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Silvas lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Silvas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Silvas lands with a thumping leg kick.
Silvas throws a nice outside leg kick.
Silvas lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Carter takes a knee right on the jaw!

Silvas leaning his opponent against the cage.
Silvas using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carter has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Silvas is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carter is defending well for now.
Carter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Silvas manages to break the clinch.
Carter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silvas's waist but Silvas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carter off to one side.
Carter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Silvas avoids it really well and circles away.
Silvas moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Nate Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice takedown defense from Carter. No joy for Silvas on that attempt.
A head kick misses from Silvas.
Silvas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silvas somewhat.
Carter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Carter has managed to clinch.
Silvas breaks the clinch.
Carter takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silvas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Silvas enables Carter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silvas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Carter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Silvas is proving hard to escape from.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Silvas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Carter.
Silvas slaps away a takedown attempt from Carter, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carter shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silvas is trying to defend but Carter finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Silvas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Silvas is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Silvas is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silvas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Carter's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A nice inside leg kick there by Silvas. That's going to slow Carter down.
Carter throws a head kick but Silvas moves out of range.
Carter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silvas tries to avoid it but Carter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silvas to the ground. Silvas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Silvas closes the distance and pushes Carter back into the cage.

Carter jumps guard but Silvas stands there with Carter around his waist. Carter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Silvas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Silvas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carter as he avoids it easily.
Carter moves out of range of the body kick from Silvas.
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silvas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carter shoots in but no luck this time.

Silvas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silvas cracks the inside of Carter's front leg.

Carter slaps away a takedown attempt from Silvas, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Silvas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carter sprawls well. Carter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silvas gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silvas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carter was well out of range. Poor timing from Silvas.
Carter shoots in but Silvas avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Carter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Silvas is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Silvas is looking for a sweep.
Carter wants to control but Silvas is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here as Carter stalls from top position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Silvas explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Carter closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Silvas quickly recovers to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carter is looking to take a break and control but Silvas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Silvas is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
