Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Chao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connor comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Warrior. Chao comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Metallica-The Unforgiven kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Connor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lee Chao! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chao takes the fight into the clinch. Connor lands a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Chao is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Connor wants to control from the top but Chao keeps moving. Chao looking for a sweep. Not yet Chao, not yet. Chao throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Chao lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Connor gets back to half guard. Nice strikes from Chao there. Chao has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Connor is looking to get back to is feet but Chao passes into side control.
Connor is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Chao creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Connor sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lee Chao dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Connor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chao looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Chao managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Connor.

That's better than Chao was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Connor tries to hold on but Chao pushes him away.

Lee Chao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Connor closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Chao's guard. Chao trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Chao looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chao has his foot on Connor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Connor works his way back into a safe position though. Connor tries to free his leg and advance position but Chao is retaining full guard.

He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chao's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Connor won't allow Chao to sweep him here. Connor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Chao can't keep his opponent in guard - Connor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Connor trying to control the pace. Chao moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Chao shoots for a double leg takedown but Connor sprawls well. He's pushed Chao's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Connor shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Chao is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Connor scores with a couple of nice shots.
