The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Fonseca.
Fonseca tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Fonseca utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fonseca is on top in guard.

Fonseca is looking for a choke. Smith gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Smith manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Fonseca changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
