PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reece Edward Duenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duenas comes into the arena with California Gurls blaring out of the sound system. McGirk has chosen This Is Who I Am as his entrance music. Dirt McGirk struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGirk throws a big shot that misses.
McGirk moves in looking to clinch but Duenas pushes him off.
McGirk lands a nice shot to the body.
McGirk throws a hook but Duenas blocks it.
McGirk throws a jab when Duenas was well out of range.
Duenas tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A punch combination from McGirk misses.
McGirk throws a series of punches but Duenas moves out of range.
McGirk jabbing away but nothing is landing.
McGirk tries to close the distance and clinch but Duenas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Duenas pushes McGirk back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
McGirk is trying to push Duenas away but Duenas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Duenas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McGirk tries to clinch but Duenas moves out of range.
McGirk throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McGirk swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Duenas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McGirk.
McGirk throws a series of punches but Duenas moves out of range.
Duenas tries to clinch there but McGirk circles away.

Duenas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Duenas thows a huge punch but McGirk dodges it nicely.
Duenas controlling the pace.
Duenas missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Duenas takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
McGirk tries to kick Duenas off but Duenas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

McGirk is trying to push Duenas away but Duenas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Duenas cracks McGirk with a nice body shot.

Duenas stands and throws McGirk's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Duenas advances to mount.
Duenas sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Duenas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duenas trying to control but McGirk is having none of it.
McGirk tries to lock up and control but Duenas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duenas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGirk is looking to escape.

Duenas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Duenas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
McGirk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Duenas is looking for a triangle but McGirk pushes his legs off easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duenas wants to take a breather but McGirk is having none of it.
Duenas uses his free foot to push down on McGirk's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McGirk.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Duenas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
