Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dre Benjamin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Dre Benjamin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dre Benjamin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dre Benjamin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Ono!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benjamin shoots in but Ono avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ono moves into the clinch.
Benjamin pulls Ono into guard.
Benjamin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ono doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ono manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ono wanted to stand there but Benjamin had control of the position.
Ono with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benjamin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ono can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Benjamin had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ono is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Benjamin Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ono's back instead.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ono feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Benjamin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Benjamin moves nicely into side control.
Ono sneaks back into half guard.
Benjamin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ono is just riding it out for now. Benjamin eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ono tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Benjamin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ono is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ono and Benjamin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
