Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Macconi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuhiro Takenyma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Macconi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuhiro Takenyma! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macconi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Macconi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Takenyma on his heels. He'll look to pass Takenyma's guard now, I'm sure. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Macconi controls from within his opponent's guard. Takenyma will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Joe Macconi has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. A big left from Takenyma misses. Takenyma tries a head kick but it misses.
Takenyma moves in looking to clinch but Macconi pushes him off. Macconi clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Takenyma is looking for a takedown. Takenyma tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Macconi smiles and moves away.
Takenyma fails in his attempt to clinch. Macconi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Takenyma is fending him off so far but Macconi persists. Nope, Takenyma circles away and we're back to standing. Takenyma throws a head kick that half lands.
Macconi shoots in but no luck this time. Takenyma fails in his attempt to clinch. Macconi looks for a takedown but Takenyma sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Macconi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Takenyma wants to clinch but Macconi slips to the side and Macconi counters with a single leg into guard. Takenyma didn't expect that. This has been an exciting period of action! Macconi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Macconi passes Takenyma's left leg - he's now in half guard. Takenyma punching from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Macconi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Takenyma! Macconi looking to control and managing it successfully. Takenyma is desperately trying to improve his position but Macconi has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macconi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Takenyma turns into him and now he's in Macconi's guard.
Macconi has his foot on Takenyma's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Takenyma works his way back into a safe position though. Takenyma tries to free his leg and advance position but Macconi is retaining full guard. Macconi is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Takenyma trying to control the position from guard on top but Macconi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Takenyma must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takenyma working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Macconi is controlling Takenyma's posture.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Kazuhiro Takenyma hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Takenyma pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Macconi shoots in for a double leg but Takenyma sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. No luck with that takedown attempt from Macconi. Kazuhiro Takenyma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Macconi misses with a body kick. Macconi is breathing heavily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Takenyma is looking to clinch but Macconi is avoiding it.

Macconi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Takenyma sprawls well initially but Macconi persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Macconi slips a nice elbow through Takenyma's hands, connecting with Takenyma's forehead. Takenyma wants to control the action here but instead Macconi manages to pass to full mount! Takenyma is looking to get to half guard. Takenyma really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Macconi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Macconi breaks from Takenyma's wrist control and lands an elbow. Macconi is landing with some decent strikes but Takenyma is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Macconi controlling from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macconi's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Macconi landing shots from mount. Takenyma is in all sorts of trouble here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joe Macconi wasn't doing enough on the ground. Takenyma wants to clinch and Macconi counters with a takedown into side control.

Takenyma tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Macconi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Macconi in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Macconi taking a breather here. Takenyma tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Macconi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Macconi is taking a breather. Takenyma says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Macconi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Macconi working the ground and pound. Macconi landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Takenyma tries to get back to half guard but can't. Macconi is putting a hurting on Takenyma here, landing some big shots from side control. Macconi tries to advance to mount but Takenyma denies him. Macconi is staying tight to Takenyma's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Macconi decides to stand back up. Macconi steps back and let's Takenyma get back to his feet. Takenyma keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Macconi misses with a takedown attempt - Takenyma sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for Macconi with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Macconi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Macconi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Takenyma gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Takenyma's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Macconi tries to keep at a distance but Takenyma has taken the fight into the clinch. Takenyma jumps guard and drags Macconi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Takenyma looking for a sweep. Not yet Takenyma, not yet. Macconi tries to free his leg and advance position but Takenyma is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takenyma not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Macconi stops Takenyma from standing up. Macconi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Takenyma's head. Takenyma is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Macconi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Takenyma throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Macconi with a nice head shot there. Macconi engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Macconi slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Macconi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Takenyma some visible discomfort.
Kazuhiro Takenyma has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joe Macconi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Macconi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Takenyma's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that's the end of the fight! Joe Macconi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Macconi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
