The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia scores with a body shot.
A big right from Maia misses.
Maia drives through and clinches with Blitzkof against the cage.
Maia is trying to force a seperation but Blitzkof has the dominant position.
Blitzkof tries a body shot but Maia blocks it.
Blitzkof stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
A head punch on the inside from Blitzkof fails to land.
Maia misses with a hook to the ribs.
Maia prevents a body shot from Blitzkof.
Maia is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Blitzkof to keep the fight standing.

Maia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Blitzkof smiles and moves away.

Maia shoots in for a double leg but Blitzkof sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Maia shoots in looking for a takedown. Blitzkof tries to sprawl out of it but Maia keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Blitzkof manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maia shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blitzkof as he avoids it easily.
Blitzkof tries to clinch up but Maia circles away and keeps his distance.
Maia misses with a wild body shot.
Maia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Blitzkof was covering up waiting for the punch and Maia finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Blitzkof looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Blitzkof is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blitzkof preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Maia wants to control from the top but Blitzkof keeps moving.
Blitzkof escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maia gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Maia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Blitzkof doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Maia postures up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fighters circling - Maia throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Blitzkof lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Blitzkof looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Maia tries to keep at a distance but Blitzkof has taken the fight into the clinch.
Maia jumps guard but Blitzkof turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Blitzkof presses Maia against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Blitzkof trying to control the position but instead, Maia has worked for underhooks and has pushed Blitzkof into the cage.
Blitzkof lands a left hand.
Blitzkof misses with the head strike.
Maia jumps guard but Blitzkof stands there with Maia around his waist. Maia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Blitzkof just leaning against Maia, taking a breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Maia throws a lazy right hand but Blitzkof sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Blitzkof fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maia, pushing him back against the cage.
Blitzkof tries to throw a body punch but Maia avoids it by throwing Blitzkof back against the cage.
Blitzkof is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Blitzkof has a couple of punches blocked by Maia.
Blitzkof is pressed up against the cage. Maia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Blitzkof down to the mat. Blitzkof avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Maia swings for the body but Blitzkof moves out of range.
Maia misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blitzkof.
Maia throws a hook but Blitzkof blocks it.

Blitzkof takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Blitzkof. Maia does a little dance to reset his feet.
Blitzkof tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maia paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Maia ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blitzkof moves away.

Maia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Blitzkof sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maia somewhat.

Blitzkof tries to close the distance and clinch but Maia swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Maia slips under a jab.
Blitzkof moves forwards but Maia connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Maia keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Blitzkof throws out a powerful jab.

Maia drives through and clinches with Blitzkof against the cage.
Blitzkof throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Maia breaks from the clinch.
Maia throws the left hand but Blitzkof avoids the punch easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maia throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blitzkof thows a body shot but no joy.
Blitzkof takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Maia swings for the body but Blitzkof moves out of range.
Blitzkof closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Blitzkof lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Maia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Blitzkof walks away with a smile on his face. Maia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Blitzkof counters by moving into the clinch.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Blitzkof, as that shot connected.
