Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Connington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Severn!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn throws a body kick that misses.
Connington throws a right and a left that both miss.
Severn fails with the takedown.
Severn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Connington circles away.
Connington throws a right hand that Severn ducks under and follows up with a left that Severn also avoids with ease.
Connington looks to land a combination. Severn sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Johnny Severn has been cut.
A head kick misses from Severn.
Connington lands a two punch combo.
Connington fails to land with a series of punches.
Connington pushes Severn up against the cage in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Connington lands a shot to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Severn blocks an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice left hand lands by Connington.
Connington is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Connington scores with a shot to the side of Severn's head.
Connington goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Severn pulls guard.
Connington postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connington wants to stand and escape but instead Severn has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Connington avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Severn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Severn trying to control the position from guard on top but Connington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Severn drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Severn seems to have locked his on tight now - Connington screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Severn, as he picks up the win!
