PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Albert Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Shachar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shachar has chosen sandstorm as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Albert Drake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Russell Shachar!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shachar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shachar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Shachar seems to be looking for submissions.
Drake tries to roll over but Shachar keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drake wants to get back to his feet.
Shachar is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Drake!
Shachar with shots to the head and body - Drake looks very uncomfortable down there.
Drake knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shachar on the ground.
Drake is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shachar controlling his opponent.
Drake is in a horrible position here. Shachar smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shachar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Drake can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Shachar postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Drake looks a forlorn figure.
Shachar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Shachar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Shachar working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Drake turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shachar off and cradles Drake's limp body as Shachar celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Russell Shachar!
An intense looking Russell Shachar took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'i just gave it my all and well sometimes it pays off im thankful just to have the chance but bring on the next guy'.
