Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nilton Da Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Dirt! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Dirt looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Dirt is defending against the submission attempts here by Da Silva.
Da Silva looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Da Silva throwing shots but Dirt is blocking nicely. Da Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Da Silva scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Da Silva sitting and controlling from the half guard. Da Silva is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Dirt reverses the position - he's now on top in Da Silva's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Da Silva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dirt! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Da Silva controlling from the full mount. Da Silva lands a big shot there that rocks Dirt but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Da Silva takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Da Silva fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirt can't escape the position.
Da Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dirt is looking to escape. Da Silva looking to finish Dirt with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dirt! Da Silva sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Da Silva looking to control but Dirt is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Dirt is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Da Silva locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Dirt is forced to tap!
