Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jyrki Metso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Glen Growes!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Growes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Metso gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Growes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Growes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Growes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Growes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Growes is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Metso pulls his head out easily.

Growes is looking to control Metso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Growes avoid being mounted?
Growes is pressing down on Metso's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Growes is striking off his back. Metso thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Growes tries to roll over but Metso keeps him under control.

Metso knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Growes on the ground.

Metso gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Metso closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Growes to the mat! Growes manages to get full guard.
Metso is breathing heavily.

Growes throws his legs up looking for a submission but Metso uses it to pass to side control.
Growes is trying to get back to half guard.

Metso happy to just control the position for now.

Growes is trying to escape the position but Metso is controlling the position.
Growes is looking to regain half guard here but Metso keeps moving and retains side control.
Growes manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's time! Metso's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Metso rushes Growes and presses him up against the cage.
Metso jumps guard but Growes stands there with Metso around his waist. Metso gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Metso prevents a takedown attempt there.

Metso escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Growes shoots in for a double leg but Metso sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Growes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Growes lands a couple of elbows.
Metso doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Growes preventing the sweep.
Growes throws and elbow that misses. Metso uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Growes's guard. Nice move by Metso!
Metso wanted to stand there but Growes had control of the position.
Growes trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Growes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Growes is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Metso decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Growes, up you get!
Growes shoots in but no luck this time.
Jyrki Metso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glen Growes.

Growes shoots in and bounces Metso off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Growes lands a couple of elbows.
Growes stands up over Metso, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Growes postures up and lands a big shot to Metso's brow.
Growes lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Growes throws a big right hand that misses.
Metso might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Growes gets to his feet - Metso follows without any prompting.
Growes doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Metso counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Metso stands up out of Growes's guard for a moment - Growes manages to land a nice upkick.

Metso connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Growes to the floor! Metso dives in looking for the finish!


Growes is rocked!
Metso is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Growes is still in real trouble! Can Metso finish him?
Growes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Metso cracks Growes with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
