Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cian McGarrity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into the arena with Country boy can survive blaring out of the sound system. McGarrity has chosen Irish Fighting Song - We Come in Pieces as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McGarrity stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hughes checks the leg kick.
McGarrity misses with a hook.
Cian McGarrity seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGarrity misses the shot to the body.
Hughes lands an overhand right.
McGarrity dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

McGarrity moves into the clinch.
McGarrity slows down the pace here.

Hughes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hughes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from McGarrity - that will leave a mark!
McGarrity tries to bum rush Hughes with a series of wild strikes but Hughes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

McGarrity throws a leg kick but Hughes sees it coming and moves out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McGarrity lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hughes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hughes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
McGarrity throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGarrity throws a leg kick but Hughes sees it coming and moves out of range.

McGarrity misses with a wild body shot.
Hughes shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hughes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McGarrity avoids the body shot from Hughes.
Hughes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McGarrity can pounce on him.

Hughes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McGarrity is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hughes connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Hughes is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McGarrity is surviving well by controlling Hughes's body position as best he can.

The referee warns McGarrity that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hughes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McGarrity's face.
Hughes throws a strike there. McGarrity manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McGarrity has managed to free his arm - good work.

McGarrity must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McGarrity is looking to stand up but Hughes won't let him.

McGarrity misses with a hook
and Hughes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hughes. That's going to slow McGarrity down.
McGarrity takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

McGarrity gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cian McGarrity was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Hughes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McGarrity's waist but McGarrity gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hughes off to one side.
McGarrity keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ratt Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGarrity is looking to clinch but Hughes is avoiding it.
Hughes throws a right hand that McGarrity ducks under and follows up with a left that McGarrity also avoids with ease.

McGarrity is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

McGarrity takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McGarrity throws the left hand but Hughes avoids the punch easily.

McGarrity uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hughes.
Hughes's corner calls for a 1-2. Hughes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Good leg kick by McGarrity there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

A looping hook to the body misses from McGarrity. Hughes does a little dance to reset his feet.
McGarrity moves forwards but Hughes connects with a nice, crisp jab.

McGarrity is looking to clinch.
Hughes misses with a takedown attempt - McGarrity sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McGarrity slaps away a takedown attempt from Hughes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hughes throws a hook to the side of McGarrity's head but McGarrity sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hughes moves out of range as McGarrity strikes.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown but McGarrity shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

McGarrity takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
McGarrity is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Poor strikes thrown by Hughes there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

McGarrity tries to lock up and control but Hughes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hughes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McGarrity is looking to escape.
Hughes postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have McGarrity in real trouble here! The ref calls for McGarrity to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
