Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Rood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikio Okita!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okita fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rood manages to avoid it.
Okita shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rood defends it nicely.
Okita avoids the body shot from Rood.
Okita keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rood.
Rood tries to score with a low kick but Okita moves his leg out of the way.
Okita swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rood fails to land with a series of punches.
Okita swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice straight punches there by Okita. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Okita.
Rood swinging wildly here.
Mikio Okita seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Rood misses its intended target.

Okita scores with a jab. Rood acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Okita lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rood at a distance.
Rood swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Okita slips a straight right by Rood.
Okita bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rood lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Okita has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Okita and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Rood lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rood throws a head kick that misses.
Rood moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Okita throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rood is looking to land body kicks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rood uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Okita.
Okita throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rood stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Okita throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rood tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Okita is in Rood's guard.
Rood wants to sweep here but Okita controlling him for the moment.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rood throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Rood controls Okita momentarily but Okita frees himself.
Okita wants to control from the top but Rood keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Okita forces his way into half guard.

Okita is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rood defends it well.
Okita looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Rood looking for submissions off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Okita is looking for a kimura but Rood is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Okita to get the leverage.

Okita is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rood defends it well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rood trying to control from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikio Okita dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Okita drives through with a takedown into Rood's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Rood escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Okita gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Okita looking to sit in guard and control but Rood gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Okita looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rood puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rood missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Rood working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Rood passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Okita squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Okita wants to control but Rood is having none of it.
Rood cracks Okita with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Okita slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Mikio Okita has got the better of the ground game so far.
Okita blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rood.
Rood prevents Okita from improving his position.
Okita is looking to control Rood's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Okita avoid being mounted?
Okita is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rood's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rood's back!
Rood trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Okita has the hooks in. Rood is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Okita tightening his grip on Rood, looking for the choke.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rood manages to reverse the position and now he's in Okita's guard. Nice work there by Rood.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Okita is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Rood lands a right hand.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Okita tries to circle away but Rood has him pinned against the cage.

Okita has clasped his hands together around Rood's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Rood can't do much from the bottom here.
Okita wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rood keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Okita works to advance to full mount. Rood defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Okita controlling the pace for now.
Okita fails to advance to Rood's back.
Okita with a couple of short strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Okita is looking to work his way around to Rood's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Okita is working for a guillotine from mount but Rood frees his head quite easily.
Rood is trying desperately to improve position.
Rood has given up his back here. Will Okita look for the submission or keep pounding away?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Okita struggling to keep hold of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikio Okita showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Okita takes a swing at Rood's ribcage but misses.
Okita cracks a nice hook into Rood's ribs.
Okita misses with a looping right.
Okita misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rood.
Nice jab there from Rood.
Rood misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Okita displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rood throws out the jab.
Rood missing with a left hand there. Okita was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Okita scores with the left hand. Rood knows he should have avoided that one.
Okita thows a body shot but no joy.
Okita shoots in for a takedown but Rood shows good takedown defense.

Rood misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rood misses with a looping right.
Rood throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A swing and a miss from Okita.
Rood avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Okita thuds his right hand into Rood's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Okita is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rood rather than just go for the knockout.
Rood moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Okita on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Okita shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rood as he avoids it easily.
Rood pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rood lands a high kick!
Brad Rood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A looping hook to the body misses from Rood. Okita does a little dance to reset his feet.
Okita connects with a body shot.
Rood scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Okita bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rood uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Okita.
Rood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Okita shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brad Rood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikio Okita.
Okita lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Okita staying out of range there.
Rood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Okita.

Okita shoots in for a takedown but Rood shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rood throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Rood tries to land a front kick but Okita steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A jab lands there for Okita.
Okita scores with a nice right hand.
Rood takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Okita bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rood tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sloppy strikes there by Okita.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rood prevents Okita from improving position.

Okita is trying to get an arm triangle but Rood is defending well.
Okita cracks Rood with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Rood tries to buck Okita off but Okita is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Okita tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rood's legs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rood regains half guard there - taking advantage of Okita's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mikio Okita.
I've got Okita winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
