PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Knowshon Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davi Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Knowshon Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Davi Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie shoots in and bounces Moreno off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gracie controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Moreno knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Moreno is retaining full guard.
Gracie sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie distracts Moreno with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Moreno wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gracie looking to pass the guard.
Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gracie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gracie forces his way into half guard.
Gracie sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Davi Gracie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gracie has closed the distance and engaged Moreno in a clinch.

Gracie pulls Moreno into guard.
Moreno wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moreno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moreno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Moreno is breathing heavily.
Gracie controlling Moreno's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Moreno is proving a slippery customer.
Moreno could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gracie looking for a sweep. Not yet Gracie, not yet.
Gracie trying to strike off his back.
Moreno stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gracie wants to improve his position but instead Moreno has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Davi Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Moreno with a poor takedown

and Gracie counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gracie.
Moreno can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gracie controlling the action here.

Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gracie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Moreno doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.

Gracie controlling the pace.
Moreno trying to control but Gracie postures up.
Gracie is taking a breather. Moreno says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gracie is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gracie drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Gracie as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Moreno screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Gracie! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Davi Gracie!
