Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Mussardo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Soloman! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mussardo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Soloman circles away. Soloman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Mussardo prevents Soloman from moving into mount. Soloman taking a breather here. Mussardo taking a bit of punishment here - Soloman scoring with strikes. Mussardo regains half guard. Mussardo is trying is best to control the position here. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Mussardo gets back to full guard.
Soloman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Soloman stopping the sweep attempt from Mussardo. Soloman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mussardo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mussardo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Soloman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Soloman with a nice head shot there. Soloman sitting in guard, not really doing much. Mussardo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Soloman is aware though and is defending well. Mussardo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Soloman uses the ropes to get back to his feet.
Soloman looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Soloman misses with a head kick.
Mussardo tries to clinch up but Soloman circles away and keeps his distance. Soloman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mussardo but Mussardo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mussardo misses with a kick to the body.
Soloman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mussardo as he jumps to the side. Soloman slips under a jab from Mussardo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mussardo blocks a head kick by Soloman.
Mussardo jabs Soloman to the body, keeping him at a distance. Soloman takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mussardo pivots, looking for a leg kick but Soloman is out of range and Mussardo settles back down. A nice leg kick lands there from Mussardo. Mussardo could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Mussardo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Soloman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Mussardo lands a jab to the head.
Mussardo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Soloman sprawls well. Soloman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mussardo gets slowly back to his feet. Mussardo is looking to chop away at Soloman's legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mussardo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Soloman to score an easy takedown into full guard. Mussardo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Soloman manages to get himself to full guard.
Mussardo with a flurry of punches that miss. Mussardo trying to control but Soloman is working from the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mussardo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mussardo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mussardo gets to his feet - Soloman follows without any prompting. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ivan Mussardo will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Soloman fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Mussardo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Soloman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Soloman wants to take a breather but Mussardo is having none of it. Mussardo gets back to full guard.
Soloman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mussardo is proving hard to escape from. Soloman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Soloman is breathing heavily. Mussardo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mussardo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Soloman postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soloman wants to control from the top but Mussardo keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ivan Mussardo. Soloman slaps away a takedown attempt from Mussardo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mussardo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Soloman circles away. Mussardo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Soloman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mussardo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soloman as he jumps to the side. Mussardo tries to roll over but Soloman keeps him under control. Soloman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We're going to have a standup here because Ivan Mussardo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Soloman lands with a slapping head kick. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mussardo!

Soloman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Soloman fails in his attempt to clinch. Soloman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Soloman wants to control for a moment but Mussardo uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Mussardo wants to control but Soloman is keeping busy and won't allow it. Soloman is trying to control the action in half guard but Mussardo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Mussardo is looking to control Soloman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mussardo avoid being mounted? Mussardo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mussardo. Mussardo trying to control the position here. Soloman wants to pass the guard but Mussardo is keeping the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mussardo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Soloman fails with a takedown attempt. Mussardo moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mussardo stuns Soloman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Mussardo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mussardo shoots in but no luck this time. Mussardo throws a series of punches but Soloman moves out of range. Soloman fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mussardo tests Soloman's chin there with a solid looking shot. Soloman dodges the punch combination from Mussardo.
Soloman closes the distance and pushes Mussardo back into the ropes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Soloman is working for takedown but Mussardo is calmly controlling the position for now. Ivan Mussardo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Soloman. Mussardo is trying to break the clinch but Soloman has him pressed against the ropes. Soloman wants a takedown.

Mussardo goes for a takedown attempt but Soloman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Soloman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mussardo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Soloman is in Mussardo's guard. Mussardo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Soloman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Soloman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mussardo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mussardo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mussardo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Mussardo throws a right and a left that Soloman avoids nicely. Ivan Mussardo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Soloman ducks under a wild hook from Mussardo. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Soloman walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mussardo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mussardo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Soloman moves away.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to James Soloman. I think Soloman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
