Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitchell Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mirko Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell tries to close the distance and clinch but Thomas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Liddell tries to keep at a distance but Thomas has taken the fight into the clinch.

Thomas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thomas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Liddell fails with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Liddell drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thomas pulls his leg out and moves away.
Liddell looks for a takedown but Thomas sprawls well.
Mitchell Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirko Liddell.
Liddell moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.
Thomas throws a right hand that Liddell ducks under and follows up with a left that Liddell also avoids with ease.
Liddell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Thomas throws a series of strikes that have Liddell backpedaling.

Thomas gets a clinch.
Liddell is looking to control Thomas's arms but Thomas gets an underhook and turns him. Now Liddell has his back to the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Thomas is trying to break the clinch but Liddell has him pressed against the cage.

Thomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Liddell shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Thomas wants to hold on but Liddell pushes him away.

Liddell is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Thomas is surviving well by controlling Liddell's body position as best he can.
Thomas is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Liddell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Thomas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Thomas shrugs it off.

Thomas is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Liddell locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Thomas is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mirko Liddell!
