PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slouth Thor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Harty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Slouth Thor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Harty!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Harty.

It looks like Slouth Thor has been cut.
Nice takedown defense from Thor. No joy for Harty on that attempt.
Harty misses the shot to the body.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Thor!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Thor remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Harty wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee asks Thor politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Thor prefers to stall for the moment though.

Harty defending against the ground and pound.
Harty wants to get back to his feet but Thor drags him back down.
Thor is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Harty will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Thor swings around for an armbar but Harty sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thor's guard.
Thor is pulling down on Harty's head. It's preventing any offense from Harty, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Slouth Thor.
Thor misses with a takedown
and Harty counters with a two punch combo.
Harty fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Thor wants to clinch.

Harty throws a head kick that misses.
Harty shoots for a takedown but Thor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thor blocks the body kick.
Harty tries to clinch but Thor moves out of range.
Harty doesn't manage to clinch there - Thor circles away.
Thor throws a series of punches but Harty moves out of range.
Harty misses with a double jab

and Thor counters with a takedown into side control.
Harty is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Thor has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Thor decides to stand back up. Thor steps back and let's Harty get back to his feet.
Thor shoots in and drives through. Harty sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slouth Thor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harty avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Thor forces Harty back against the cage and clinches.
Harty doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Thor prevents the takedown attempt.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Harty.

Thor jumps guard.

Harty is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Thor has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Harty is looking to defend but Thor has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Harty! Thor pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Harty taps out and this one is all over!
