PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Crack Corn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Crack Corn might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Jimmy cracks heads and he dont care. Jimmy Crack Corn has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Crack Corn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan slaps away a takedown attempt from Crack Corn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Morgan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crack Corn.
Morgan leaves Crack Corn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Crack Corn showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Morgan.
Crack Corn slips a straight right by Morgan.
Jab by Morgan.

Crack Corn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Morgan kicks Crack Corn off and gets to his feet.
Crack Corn has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Crack Corn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fighters circling - Crack Corn throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nice straight punches there by Morgan. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Morgan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morgan throws the left hand but Crack Corn avoids the punch easily.
Morgan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Crack Corn back to the cage. Morgan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Morgan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Crack Corn under the eye.
Morgan missing with a left hand there. Crack Corn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Morgan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crack Corn.
Crack Corn gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Crack Corn misses with a takedown attempt - Morgan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Crack Corn staying out of range there.
No luck for Crack Corn with that takedown attempt.
Morgan looks to land a combination but Crack Corn avoids it well.

Crack Corn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Morgan was covering up waiting for the punch and Crack Corn finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morgan wants to stand up but Crack Corn is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Crack Corn's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Crack Corn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Morgan's guard.
Crack Corn is keen to just control but Morgan is a slippery customer.

Crack Corn wants to work for an arm triangle but Morgan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Crack Corn thows a huge punch but Morgan dodges it nicely.
Crack Corn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Crack Corn prevents Morgan from standing back up.
Crack Corn takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Morgan is not content to let Crack Corn control the position.
Morgan is trying to stand up here but Crack Corn is controlling him well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Crack Corn lands a nice short elbow.

Crack Corn is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Morgan is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jimmy Crack Corn!
A determined Jimmy Crack Corn didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
