Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Saunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Saunders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saunders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Diaz counters with a two punch combo. Saunders tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Diaz moves into range and clinches up with Saunders. A head punch blocked on the inside by Diaz. Diaz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Saunders.
Saunders drops down looking for an ankle pick but Diaz pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Saunders. That's going to take a lot out of him. Saunders with a lazy takedown attempt and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saunders won't be happy with that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diaz wants to control from the top but Saunders keeps moving. Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Saunders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Saunders throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Saunders has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Diaz after a bit of a struggle. Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Saunders is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Diaz feints a jab promting Saunders to slip. Diaz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Saunders slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Ben Saunders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Saunders tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Saunders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Saunders shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Diaz feints a jab promting Saunders to slip. Diaz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Saunders slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Diaz throws a right and a left that Saunders avoids nicely. Saunders feints and as Diaz raises his hands in defense, Saunders changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Saunders is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Saunders decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Diaz, up you get!
That's one minute gone in the round. Saunders fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Saunders blocks a head kick by Diaz.

Saunders keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Diaz's head. Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Saunders is one step ahead there. Saunders drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Diaz manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Saunders has Diaz in his guard. Saunders is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Saunders has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diaz has managed to get both his arms back between Saunders's legs - danger averted. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Diaz finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Diaz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Saunders takes a shot to the head. Saunders is looking for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily. Saunders takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Saunders stuffs the takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet. Saunders manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Diaz on his heels. He'll look to pass Diaz's guard now, I'm sure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saunders throws a big elbow that misses. Saunders trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Saunders throwing strikes but missing. Saunders won't allow Diaz to get back to his feet. Saunders sitting in guard here, content to control. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Saunders from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ben Saunders wasn't doing enough on the ground. Saunders shoots for a takedown but Diaz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saunders is defended easily by Diaz. Nick Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Saunders circles away.
And that's the end of the fight! Nick Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Diaz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Nick Diaz! After the fight, Nick Diaz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
