Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Coleman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Iker Casillas! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coleman tries for a takedown but Casillas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Casillas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Casillas throws a head kick that misses. Casillas misses with an attempted mid kick.
Coleman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Casillas sprawls well initially but Coleman persists and gets the takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Coleman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Coleman throwing shots but Casillas is blocking nicely. Casillas tries to get to full guard but Coleman has control of the leg. Coleman thows a huge punch but Casillas dodges it nicely.
Well, if Coleman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Coleman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Coleman in particular looking to stall. Coleman wants to pass to mount but Casillas is defending the position. Casillas is trying to get back to full guard. Coleman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Coleman is nestled in close to Casillas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Coleman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Coleman stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Casillas is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Coleman scores with a couple of nice shots. Casillas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coleman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman not landing any meaningful shots this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coleman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Coleman winds up and cracks Casillas with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coleman works his foot free and advances to mount. Coleman controlling the position easily from mount. Coleman landing shots from mount.

It looks like Iker Casillas has been cut. Casillas in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Casillas is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Coleman cracks Casillas with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eric Coleman! An out of breath Eric Coleman thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
