Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devin Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Shields told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shields slaps away a takedown attempt from Couture, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Couture shoots in looking for a takedown but Shields manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Couture's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devin Couture. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Couture drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shields manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Couture has Shields in his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Couture accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Couture is pressing down on Shields's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shields is holding on for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Couture throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Couture slips a nice elbow through Shields's hands, connecting with Shields's forehead.

A close round but Jack Shields will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Couture shoots for a double leg takedown but Shields sprawls well. He's pushed Couture's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Couture is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Couture has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Couture keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Shields wasn't active enough on the ground.

Couture shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Couture was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

A big strike lands for Couture! That's really hurt Shields and he's turned his back - Couture keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Couture jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Devin Couture!
In his post fight interview, Devin Couture started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
