Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Colonel Angus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eye Phone! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phone shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Phone was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Angus on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Angus tries to get out of the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Phone goes for an armbar but Angus turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Angus. Phone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Angus drops back, looking for a kneebar! Phone looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Phone looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Phone! Phone throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Angus tries to improve position but can't. Phone is trying to get an arm triangle but Angus is defending well. Phone cracks Angus with an elbow. That is naaassty. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Phone tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phone looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Angus is trying to improve his position. Phone is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Angus has escaped the position, nice work there. Phone tries for a kimura but Angus is defending well. Angus tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phone is looking to take a break and control but Angus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Phone postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Angus is trying to control Phone's posture but Phone avoids it. Phone wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Angus, who protects the arm well. Phone has hold of Angus's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Angus tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Phone cranks the arm and Angus screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Angus, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Eye Phone! In his post fight interview, Eye Phone started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
