The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pray closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Redding can do anything to dispel that myth. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Pray working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Redding tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pray wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Pray will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pray wants to lay and pray for a moment but Redding keeps working. Pray controls the position from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Redding manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Redding is holding on to half guard well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Lay Pray just wasn't active enough. Pray misses with a takedown attempt and Redding cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Redding misses with a straight right. Redding misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pray.
Pray looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Pray slips a jab from Redding. Redding slaps away a takedown attempt from Pray, before circling back to the center of the mat. Redding lands with a big right hook that stumbles Pray - he's out on his feet here! Redding follows up with another monster hook that separates Pray from consciousness! Pray falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Redding stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tom Redding! An out of breath and clearly excited Tom Redding thanked Black Belt Nutrition #=========||=========# for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
