Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Esteban Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esteban Delgado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Aldo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Delgado will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Aldo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Delgado slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Aldo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Aldo wants to stand up but Delgado is controlling him. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Delgado from controlling successfully. Delgado throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aldo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Delgado is now in half guard. Delgado is taking a breather. Aldo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Aldo is trying to get back to full guard. Delgado is trying to control the action in half guard but Aldo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Delgado prevents Aldo from standing back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Esteban Delgado. A telegraphed right hand from Delgado misses the target. Aldo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Delgado shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. This has been an exciting period of action! Delgado throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Delgado takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Aldo is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Delgado controlling the pace for now. Aldo is desperately trying to improve his position but Delgado has a good base and remains in mount. Delgado looking to control and managing it successfully. Aldo tries to hold on but Delgado pushes him away. Delgado is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Aldo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Aldo shrugs it off. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aldo is desperately trying to improve his position but Delgado has a good base and remains in mount. Aldo wants to hold on but Delgado pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Esteban Delgado dominated that round. That's time! Delgado's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Delgado displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Aldo throws out the jab. Esteban Delgado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Delgado shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aldo pinned against the cage. Aldo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Delgado uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Aldo. Aldo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Delgado. Aldo throws the left hand but Delgado avoids the punch easily. Aldo jabbing away but nothing is landing. Aldo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Aldo moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Delgado misses with an uppercut
and Aldo makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Delgado defending well as Aldo loads up on a big left hand. Delgado tries to score a power double leg takedown but Aldo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Delgado somewhat. Aldo throws a jab when Delgado was well out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delgado connects with a solid leg kick. Delgado shoots in looking for a takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl out of it but Delgado keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aldo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Esteban Delgado. That's going to take a lot out of him. Delgado closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Aldo quickly recovers to half guard. Delgado thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aldo's head. Aldo is trying to control but can't.

Delgado has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Aldo looking to control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Delgado takes a swing at Aldo's ribcage but misses. Delgado ducks under a wild hook from Aldo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Delgado misses with a hook. Aldo ducked under it nicely. Aldo lands a glancing blow to the side of Delgado's head. Aldo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Delgado. Delgado lands a head shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Delgado fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aldo sprawls well initially but Delgado persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Aldo wants to improve his position but Delgado is controlling well.
Delgado looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aldo wants to control but Delgado is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Esteban Delgado will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Delgado. Delgado lands some shots froms side control. Delgado throws a strike aimed at the side of Aldo's head but Aldo avoids it well. Delgado trying to control the position but Aldo is working away. Delgado cracks Aldo with a big right hand but Aldo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Esteban Delgado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Aldo sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Delgado content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Delgado. Delgado stalling. Aldo is refusing to be controlled, as Delgado sits in half guard. Delgado prevents Aldo from improving his position. Jose Aldo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The ref stands the fighters back up because Esteban Delgado just wasn't active enough. Aldo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Delgado.

And that's the end of the fight! Esteban Delgado showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Delgado, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
