Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thor Hightower! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kingsley Nasir! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hightower lands a nice shot that snaps Nasir's head back.
Nasir closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Check out the look on Nasir's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Nasir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hightower. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hightower gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Nasir is looking to stall here but Hightower recovers full guard. Nasir trying to control the position from guard on top but Hightower is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hightower manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hightower is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Hightower!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Thor Hightower! After the fight, Thor Hightower was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
