Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Perenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddie Perenson! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith gets in close and instigates a clinch. Smith is trying to pull guard but Perenson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Smith can't break the clinch.
Perenson goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Perenson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Perenson fails to land with a series of punches.
Perenson shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Perenson, before circling back to the center of the mat. John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Perenson. Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Perenson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat. Perenson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith pushes Perenson up against the cage in a clinch. Perenson tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Perenson drops back down to his feet.

Perenson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Perenson wants it to stay on the feet. Perenson fails with the takedown and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Perenson! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Perenson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Smith content just to control the position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith unloads with some shots from mount but Perenson bucks and avoids them well.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Smith manages to capitalize on a mistake by Perenson to take his back! Perenson holding both Smith 's hands and preventing any damage. Perenson is trying to break free.
Smith is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Perenson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Perenson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith avoiding Perenson 's attempts to control his hands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Perenson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Perenson trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Perenson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Smith gets his way!
Perenson wants to control his opponent's hands but Smith gets his hands free. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith drops down looking for an ankle pick but Perenson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Perenson stuffs the takedown. Perenson shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Perenson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Smith misses with a wild body shot. John Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Perenson. Perenson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Perenson. Smith jumps guard but Perenson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Smith can't break the clinch.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but Perenson has the dominant position. Perenson is trying to pull guard but Smith has him pressed against the cage. Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Perenson breaks from the clinch.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Smith throws a head kick but Perenson moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perenson tries a head kick but it misses.
Perenson tries to clinch and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith. Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Perenson has him pressed against the cage. Smith can't get the takedown.
Perenson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Perenson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Perenson moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off. Smith stuffs the takedown attempt from Perenson. Perenson gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smith misses with a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Perenson or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perenson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Perenson. Perenson dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Perenson's head and hops out. Smith stuffs the takedown. Smith has taken the fight to the clinch.
Perenson is working for takedown but Smith is calmly controlling the position for now. A frustrated look appears on Perenson's face as he tries to break the clinch. Perenson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Perenson swivels and escapes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perenson closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Perenson pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Perenson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. Perenson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Perenson avoids the head kick by Smith.
Perenson tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. Perenson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center. Perenson misses with a hook. Smith ducked under it nicely. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Perenson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Perenson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Perenson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that John Smith will probably get the nod. That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Perenson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Perenson wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Perenson. Perenson tries to clinch up and Smith moves into the clinch. Perenson is looking to control Smith's arms but Smith gets an underhook and turns him. Now Perenson has his back to the cage. Smith wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Perenson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Smith is keeping busy. Smith has picked Perenson up - he's going for a ride! Smith dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Smith slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perenson is trying to stand back up but Smith is controlling him
Smith moves into full mount! Perenson won't be happy about that! Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Perenson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Perenson reaches up to try and control the position but Smith seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Perenson rolls and tries to escape and now Smith has his back!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Perenson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. What can Perenson do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

And that's the end of the fight! John Smith showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
