Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Deon Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Sting (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sting has chosen Axel 3 as his entrance music. Deon Fernandez looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sting moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sting shoots in for a double leg but Fernandez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Sting throws a solid leg kick but Fernandez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Sting.

Sting gets caught flat footed, as Fernandez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fernandez has gone for a leg lock! Sting slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fernandez's guard.
Sting would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sting must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fernandez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sting is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fernandez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sting's back instead.

Fernandez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sting does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Fernandez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sting really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Fernandez is nestled in close to Sting, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Sting is in trouble now - Fernandez has advanced to mount!
Fernandez wants to control the pace but Sting is squirming around nicely.
Fernandez wants to finish this one by submission but Sting is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Fernandez.
Fernandez has control of Sting's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sting regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Fernandez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sting to the mat! Sting manages to get full guard.
Fernandez postures up in Sting's guard and throws a big left but Sting blocks it.
Sting manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fernandez manages to get himself to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fernandez is on top in guard.

Fernandez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sting is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sting has escaped and now he's on top!
Sting wants to control from the top but Fernandez keeps moving.

Fernandez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sting is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fernandez.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A head kick lands from Sting that sends Fernandez to the canvas. Fernandez tries to scramble back to his feet but Sting brings him back down into side control.

Sting stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Oh Fernandez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Fernandez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sting is fending him off so far but Fernandez persists. Nope, Sting circles away and we're back to standing.
