4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeffrey Ramirez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Paul! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Paul.
Ramirez tests Paul's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Justin Paul has been cut. Paul misses with a wild body shot. Paul lands a nice shot to the body.
Ramirez ducks under a wild hook from Paul. Ramirez dives in and scores a takedown into Paul's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ramirez tries to free his leg and advance position but Paul is retaining full guard. Ramirez trying to control the position from guard on top but Paul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paul can do anything to dispel that myth. Ramirez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Paul looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Paul looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Paul!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez tries to bench press Paul off him but Paul keeps the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jeffrey Ramirez just wasn't active enough. Ramirez throws out a loose jab but Paul uses good head movement to avoid it. Ramirez lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Paul backs up against the cage.
Paul looks to land a left hand but Ramirez moved out of range nicely. Paul takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Jab by Ramirez. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice defenses there by Ramirez. Paul takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
That has opened up Justin Paul's cut even more.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez connects with a body shot that sends Paul's belly button to the back. Paul looks gassed! Jab from Ramirez.
The cut above Justin Paul's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Paul throws a lazy right hand but Ramirez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ramirez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Justin Paul is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Paul takes a jab right on the kisser.
Ramirez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Paul is rocked! and Ramirez counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Paul! He's just covering up as Ramirez starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
