PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Condor Axe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Claude Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Condor Axe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Claude Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Axe looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Patrick!

Axe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A looping hook to the body misses from Patrick. Axe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Claude Patrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Axe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Patrick gets caught napping as Axe dives in and scores a takedown. Patrick manages to retain guard.

Patrick wants to get back to his feet but Axe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Axe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Axe distracts Patrick with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Axe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Axe drives through with a takedown into Patrick's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Axe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Patrick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Axe sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Axe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Patrick is keeping the position for now.
Axe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Patrick has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Axe finds it's way round the side to connect with Patrick's head.

Axe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Patrick to the ground. Axe is now in Patrick's guard.
Axe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Patrick wants to get back to his feet but Axe is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Condor Axe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Axe tries to free his leg and advance position but Patrick is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Condor Axe.
Axe lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Axe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Condor Axe.
Patrick takes one to the side of the head.
Patrick shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Patrick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Axe is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Patrick's half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Axe looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Patrick with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Patrick finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Axe is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Axe counters with a left and a right that stings Patrick.

Axe manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Patrick on his heels. He'll look to pass Patrick's guard now, I'm sure.

Axe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Patrick is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Axe dives into side control.

Axe's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Patrick is trying to break the clinch but Axe is controlling him.

Well Axe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
