Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Philip Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ash Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Philip Phillips! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ash Thomas! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely. Thomas thuds his shin into the meat of Phillips's side. No luck with that takedown attempt from Phillips. Thomas moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Thomas blocks a head kick by Phillips.
Philip Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Phillips fails with an attempt to clinch.
Phillips throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely. Phillips will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Now he's in top in Phillips's guard. Thomas wants to control from the top but Phillips keeps moving.

Phillips trying to keep a closed guard but Thomas is proving a slippery customer.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ash Thomas wasn't active enough on the ground. Thomas tries to clinch there but Phillips circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Phillips checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Phillips lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thomas circles away quickly and effectively. Phillips chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Thomas can pounce on him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas lands with a hook. Phillips tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Phillips scoring well with a low kick there.
Thomas throws a body kick that misses. Thomas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Phillips moves away. A combination from Phillips does no damage. Phillips misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Phillips looks to land a left hand but Thomas moved out of range nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Phillips on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Phillips with a hook. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ash Thomas will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Phillips moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Thomas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

and Phillips counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Phillips seems to be working for a kimura but Thomas defends the submission attempt. Phillips uses his free foot to push down on Thomas's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Thomas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't. Thomas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Phillips. Phillips avoids the attempt from Thomas to control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth. Phillips trying to control but he's not successful this time. Phillips throws some wild stikes that Thomas manages to avoid easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Phillips working for a submission but Thomas is keeping him at bay. Phillips is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Thomas has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Phillips wants to finish this one by submission but Thomas is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Phillips. Thomas is working to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Phillips swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Thomas is now in Phillips's guard. A big mistake from Phillips there, giving up the dominant position! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

And that's the end of the fight! Ash Thomas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Thomas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
