Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Irons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Smith was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Irons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Smith! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Irons as he avoids it easily. Irons connects with a body shot. Irons tries to work over Smith's front leg with a kick but Smith checks it. Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Irons avoids it really well and circles away. Irons stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irons wants it to stay on the feet. Jim Irons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith. Smith is trying hard to land a takedown here. Irons sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Irons tries a head kick but it misses.
Irons misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Irons circles away. Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Irons sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Irons sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Irons throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Irons dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
It looks like John Smith has been cut. Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Irons tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Irons to the ground. Irons escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith checks a low kick from Irons. Smith gets a takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Smith prevents Irons from improving his position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Irons tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Smith has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Smith controlling from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Irons can't escape the position.
Irons is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Smith locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Irons is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Smith! A very excited looking John Smith rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
