Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Alexandrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mayer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I´m shipping out to Boston - Dropkick Murphys. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Anton Alexandrov!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexandrov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Alexandrov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like Anton Alexandrov has been cut.
Mayer tries to clinch there but Alexandrov circles away.
Alexandrov shoots in and drives through. Mayer sprawls well.
Mayer scores with the left hand. Alexandrov knows he should have avoided that one.
Horrible takedown by Alexandrov or perhaps it was just good defense by Mayer which made him look bad.
John Mayer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Alexandrov.
Alexandrov shoots in for a double leg but Mayer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mayer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alexandrov on the side of the head.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alexandrov.

Mayer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alexandrov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mayer has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mayer is looking for a sweep. Alexandrov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Alexandrov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Alexandrov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alexandrov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mayer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alexandrov.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mayer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Alexandrov with a flurry of punches that miss.

Alexandrov won't allow Mayer to sweep him here.

Alexandrov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mayer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alexandrov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mayer utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mayer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mayer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Alexandrov is controlling him.
Alexandrov looking to sit in guard and control but Mayer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mayer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayer wants to control from the top but Alexandrov keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Mayer will probably get the nod.

That's time! Mayer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
