Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barney Sumner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haste The Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Barney Sumner has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Barney Sumner seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barney Sumner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Haste The Day! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sumner throws the left hand but The Day avoids the punch easily. Sumner takes a swing at The Day's ribcage but misses. Sumner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of The Day's head. Barney Sumner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sumner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from The Day. Sumner tries to clinch but The Day moves out of range. Sumner fails with an attempt to clinch.
The Day looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sumner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barney Sumner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Haste The Day. The Day is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sumner's half guard. The Day is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sumner has one foot on The Day's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Day displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sumner throws out the jab. The Day shoots in looking for a takedown but Sumner manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Day's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Sumner stuffs the takedown attempt from The Day. The Day gets slowly back to his feet. Sumner cracks The Day with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Sumner has closed the distance and engaged The Day in a clinch.
The Day is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sumner is defending well. Sumner is defending well against a takedown attempt. A short right hand to the side of the head by Sumner. The Day is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sumner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Sumner lands with a short shot to the head. Sumner swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sumner blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Sumner.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sumner gets underhooks to prevent The Day's takedown attempt.
The Day wants a takedown but no success here.
The Day has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sumner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sumner is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sumner lands a hook to the side of the head. Sumner gets through The Day's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sumner avoiding damage.
The Day can't get the takedown.
Sumner lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. The Day is trying to break the clinch but Sumner is controlling him. The Day blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Sumner is pressed up against the cage. The Day has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sumner down to the mat. Sumner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. The Day avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sumner fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sumner moves into range and clinches up with The Day. Sumner content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Sumner scores with a shot to the side of The Day's head. The Day working hard to break the clinch. A short right from Sumner. Sumner scores with a nice hook to the head. Sumner lands with a left to the head. The Day is trying to trip Sumner. He has hold of a leg but Sumner is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. The Day persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Sumner has momentary wrist control but The Day slips an elbow through the middle. The Day pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sumner is keeping the position for now. The Day forces his way into half guard. The Day landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The Day is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sumner has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Day is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The Day is looking for a kimura here.
Sumner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The Day on the ground. The Day is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sumner is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Haste The Day! Haste The Day tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
