Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Stackhouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Compton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stackhouse comes into the arena with And then they run blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Stackhouse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Compton!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Compton shoots in for a takedown but Stackhouse shows good takedown defense.
Stackhouse stuffs the takedown attempt from Compton. Compton gets slowly back to his feet.

and Stackhouse counters with a series of strikes. Compton will be more careful next time no doubt.
Jason Stackhouse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Compton.

Compton drops back looking for a leg! Stackhouse is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stackhouse manages to kick Compton off! Compton jumps back into Stackhouse's guard.

Compton is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Stackhouse!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Compton wants to work for an arm triangle but Stackhouse is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stackhouse throws a leg kick but Compton moved away.

Compton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stackhouse pinned against the cage. Stackhouse gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Compton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stackhouse avoids it really well and circles away.

Compton is trying to stick to Stackhouse's back but Stackhouse is turning into Compton. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Compton's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Stackhouse.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stackhouse accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Compton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stackhouse manages to get himself to full guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Compton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stackhouse tries to avoid it but Compton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stackhouse to the ground. Stackhouse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Compton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown by Compton or perhaps it was just good defense by Stackhouse which made him look bad.

Compton blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Stackhouse.
Compton fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Compton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stackhouse smiles and moves away.

Stackhouse fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Compton, pushing him back against the cage.
Compton has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Stackhouse after a bit of a struggle.

Stackhouse is trying to trip Compton. He has hold of a leg but Compton is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Stackhouse persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stackhouse throws a big elbow that misses.
Stackhouse trying to control the position from guard on top but Compton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stackhouse slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Stackhouse.
Compton shoots in and drives through. Stackhouse sprawls well.
