PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sean Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devin King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Kings and Queens. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devin King!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.
King wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.

King closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard.

Jackson looking for submissions off his back.

King is looking for a kimura but Jackson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for King to get the leverage.
Jackson trying to control but King postures up.
King trying to control from half guard but Jackson is working away.

King not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

King tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jackson controls his leg.

Jackson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but King pulls his head out easily.
King is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
King with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson wants to control but King passes into side.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King is staying tight to Jackson's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Jackson is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
King takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Jackson to pass into mount.
King looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
King working away from the top, dropping strikes.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.

Jackson tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
King controlling from mount.

Jackson tries to hold on but King postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Devin King dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


King blocks a head kick by Jackson.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily.
Jackson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on King. That did some damage!

King closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
King is looking to stall here but Jackson recovers full guard.

King won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
King wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.

Jackson throws his legs up looking for a submission but King uses it to pass to side control.

King content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jackson wants to control but King postures up.
Jackson is trying to escape the position but King is controlling the position.
King lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
King slows the pace down.
King trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom.

King decides to stand back up. King steps back and let's Jackson get back to his feet.

Jackson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Jackson connects with a solid leg kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from King.
King is breathing heavily.
Jackson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
King swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.
King throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jackson.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.

King clinches up with Jackson and pushes him back against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Jackson avoids the elbow strike from King, against the cage.
Jackson working hard to break the clinch.
King is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Jackson scores with a nice hook to the head.
Jackson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Jackson pushes off an throws an elbow but King leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Jackson unloads a knee to the mid-section. King lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Jackson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
King changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jackson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Jackson misses with the combination.
Jackson tries to clinch up but King circles away and keeps his distance.
Jackson stuffs the takedown.
Sean Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Devin King.
King shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but King keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Devin King will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


King throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but King manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jackson throws a series of strikes that have King backpedaling.
Sean Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King misses with a low kick.

King fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jackson to the ground. King is now in Jackson's guard.
Jackson wants to sweep but no luck.

Jackson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

King decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.

Jackson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Devin King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King gets the takedown into side control.
Jackson is looking for a sweep.
Jackson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!
King controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Jackson is not going to allow King to sit and survive in this position.

Jackson has the hooks in. King is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
King is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
A lull in the action here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King tries to break free.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Jackson.
King trying to control but not successfully.

Jackson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, King has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

King avoids the strikes from Jackson.
I really don't envy King right now.

Jackson is working for a rear naked choke. King is not defending it well and Jackson has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! King refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of King's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sean Jackson!
