PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Louie Resto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Mur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mur has chosen Megadeth - Liar as his entrance music. The key to victory for Louie Resto has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Louie Resto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pablo Mur!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mur fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mur shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mur was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mur tries to control but Resto wriggling away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mur lands with some strikes.
Resto takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Resto is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mur looking to control but Resto is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Mur goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Resto turns into him and now he's in Mur's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mur controlling the position.

Mur working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Resto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Resto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Resto decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Louie Resto is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mur shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Resto as he jumps to the side.

Mur scores with a takedown into Resto's guard.
Resto wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mur manages to pass to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mur wants to pass to mount but Resto is defending the position.
Mur trying to control from Resto's half guard. Resto has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Resto is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mur is looking to advance position but Resto has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mur tries to hold on but Resto postures up.
Mur can't escape the position.

Resto stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mur misses with a double jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Resto enables Mur to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Resto manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mur wants to control from the top but Resto keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mur is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Resto can't keep his opponent in guard - Mur advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Resto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mur wants to take a breather but Resto is having none of it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pablo Mur has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Resto throws a nice looking combination but Mur bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mur.
Louie Resto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Mur.
Mur looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Resto is fending him off so far but Mur persists. Nope, Resto circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Resto wants to get back to his feet.
Pablo Mur has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mur trying to control from half guard but Resto is working away.
Mur looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Pablo Mur has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Resto drops Mur with a beautiful combination! Mur stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Resto is looking for the KO!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mur shoots in for a takedown but Resto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Resto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Resto tries to circle away but Mur has him pinned against the cage.
Resto looking for a takedown.
A short right from Resto.
Mur is working for takedown but Resto is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Resto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mur throws a sloppy head kick and Resto moves out of range easily.

Mur shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mur was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mur with a couple of short strikes.
Mur lands a nice shot to the head.
Mur is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Resto can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mur should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Resto is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Mur can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Resto is looking to escape.

Mur lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Mur controlling from mount.
Resto is squirming around, avoiding Mur's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mur controlling the pace for now.
Mur dominating with strikes here.
Mur looking to control and managing it successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mur wants to control the pace but Resto is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Pablo Mur will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


A telegraphed right hand from Mur misses the target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mur.
Resto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mur looks to land a right hand but Resto moved out of range.
Resto misses with a wild combination.
Resto tries to close the distance and clinch but Mur swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Resto changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Resto scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Resto drops Mur with a beautiful combination! Mur stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Resto is looking for the KO!


Mur is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Resto ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Mur out cold! The fight is over!
