Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Stokes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Santiago Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Vega!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Stokes.
Vega on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Stokes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vega to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vega is looking to work some ground and pound but Stokes has wrist control.
Stokes wants to sweep but no luck.
Vega throws an elbow that misses. Stokes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vega's guard. Nice move by Stokes!
Vega pulls Stokes in close to his closed guard and prevents Stokes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Stokes would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Vega should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Stokes postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Vega looks a forlorn figure.

Stokes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vega can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stokes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vega is looking to escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Anthony Stokes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stokes paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Vega throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stokes was covering up waiting for the punch and Vega finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Vega is looking to escape.
Stokes is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Vega!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Stokes stalks Vega and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vega's face. Vega staggers backwards, shaken.
Stokes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vega looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Vega shoots in for a takedown but Stokes shows good takedown defense.
Vega looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Vega feints and as Stokes raises his hands in defense, Vega changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Anthony Stokes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Vega takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Vega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stokes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vega looking to sit in guard and control but Stokes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

I would just about give that final round to Santiago Vega.
Well Stokes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
