PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thiraphon Jr Phuttharaksa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and That Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phuttharaksa comes to the cage accompanied by TP outro . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Thiraphon Jr Phuttharaksa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, That Guy!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy misses with a combination

and Phuttharaksa counters with a shoot takedown. Guy fights it but they end up in guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Phuttharaksa wants to pass the guard but Guy is keeping the position.
Phuttharaksa preventing the sweep.

Guy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Guy looking for a sweep. Not yet Guy, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Guy is on top in guard.
Phuttharaksa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Guy.
Phuttharaksa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Guy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phuttharaksa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Guy with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Phuttharaksa keeping full guard, as Guy tries to pass.
Guy looking to sit in guard and control but Phuttharaksa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Guy trying to keep a closed guard but Phuttharaksa is proving a slippery customer.

Guy has his foot on Phuttharaksa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Phuttharaksa works his way back into a safe position though.
Guy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Phuttharaksa!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Guy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Phuttharaksa has worked his arm free - good work by Phuttharaksa!
Phuttharaksa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The strikes coming from Guy are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phuttharaksa takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Phuttharaksa is not content to let Guy control the position.
Check out the look on Guy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Guy tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Guy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Guy tries for a kimura but Phuttharaksa is defending well.
Phuttharaksa taking a bit of punishment here - Guy scoring with strikes.
Phuttharaksa dodges the ground and pound from Guy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guy is working Phuttharaksa over with some ground and pound from side control.
Guy fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That Guy dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Guy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phuttharaksa's waist but Phuttharaksa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guy off to one side.
Guy comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Guy counters with a single leg into guard. Phuttharaksa didn't expect that.

Guy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Phuttharaksa's head.
Guy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Guy throws a strike but Phuttharaksa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Guy had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Phuttharaksa defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Phuttharaksa has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Guy to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Phuttharaksa is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Guy pulls down on the head and he's put Phuttharaksa to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). That Guy!
