Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ere Karhu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarkko Korhonen! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karhu misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Karhu fails in his attempt to clinch. Karhu fails to land the takedown. Karhu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Korhonen trying to stand up but can't free himself from Karhu's guard. Korhonen stands up over Karhu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Korhonen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karhu swivels though and keeps the full guard. Karhu looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Korhonen passes into side control.
Karhu on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Korhonen in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karhu tries to get back to half guard but can't. Karhu is working hard here to advance position. Korhonen is working Karhu over with some ground and pound from side control. Korhonen decides to take the fight back to the feet. Korhonen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Karhu! Karhu is breathing heavily. Karhu can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Korhonen landing strikes from the mount and Karhu is in trouble! Korhonen looking to control and managing it successfully. Karhu tries to reverse the position but Korhonen maintains control. Karhu slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Korhonen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Karhu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Korhonen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Korhonen's back! Oooh a big shot gets through from Karhu. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Korhonen breaks Karhu's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Korhonen trying to control the position from guard on top but Karhu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Korhonen stands up and waves to Karhu to follow him. Korhonen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Korhonen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Korhonen's corner calls for a 1-2. Korhonen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Korhonen gets a clinch. Karhu is trying to break free. Korhonen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Korhonen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karhu chips away with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karhu wants to control from the top but Korhonen keeps moving. Korhonen looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Karhu passes into half guard.

Korhonen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Korhonen is refusing to be controlled, as Karhu sits in half guard. Karhu lands strikes from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karhu misses with a takedown attempt and Korhonen counters with a stiff right hand. Karhu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Karhu fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ere Karhu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Karhu takes a swing at Korhonen's ribcage but misses. Korhonen looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Korhonen trying to control but Karhu is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Korhonen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Karhu keeping full guard, as Korhonen tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karhu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Karhu is on top in guard.
Korhonen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Karhu is one step ahead there. Korhonen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Karhu manages to get himself to full guard.
Korhonen trying to control but Karhu is working from the bottom. Korhonen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Karhu is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Karhu looking for a sweep. Not yet Karhu, not yet. Korhonen sitting in guard, not really doing much. Korhonen wants to pass the guard but Karhu is keeping the position. Korhonen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Karhu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Korhonen has Karhu in his guard. Karhu passes easily into side control. Nice work. Karhu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Korhonen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Korhonen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Karhu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Karhu stands up and we're back to a striking position. Karhu gets the takedown into side control. Korhonen takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Korhonen wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Karhu has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Korhonen's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Korhonen is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Karhu!
