PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins comes to the cage accompanied by Hostile Mass. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Jenkins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Jenkins drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jackson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jackson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jackson!
Jackson wants to stand but Jenkins has his arm trapped.
Jenkins is looking for a sweep.
Jenkins sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Jackson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jenkins doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jenkins wants to pass the guard but Jackson is defending well.
Jackson tries to roll over but Jenkins keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jenkins works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Jenkins's attempts to control the action.

Jenkins goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jackson turns into him and now he's in Jenkins's guard.

Jenkins can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.

Jenkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jackson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rick Jenkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jenkins moves away.

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jackson.

Jenkins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jenkins takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Jenkins counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Jenkins wants to work for an arm triangle but Jackson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jackson is looking to control Jenkins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?

Jenkins decides to stand and escape the position.

Jenkins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Jenkins is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Jenkins gets a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jenkins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jenkins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jenkins drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Jenkins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jackson, up you get!

and Jenkins counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rick Jenkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Jackson.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jenkins passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jenkins is thwarting Jackson's attempts to control the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Jenkins is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jackson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Jenkins's back instead.

Jenkins wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Jenkins is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jackson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jackson!

Jenkins has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jackson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Jenkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jenkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
