Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bobby Blimm!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sam Miguel!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miguel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Blimm connects with an inside leg kick.
Miguel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Blimm paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No luck for Blimm with that takedown attempt.
Blimm avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miguel pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Blimm throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Miguel closes the distance but Blimm moves to the side
and Blimm counters with a one-two to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blimm dodges the punch combination from Miguel.
Sam Miguel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miguel with a lazy takedown attempt
and Blimm counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Sam Miguel has been cut.
Blimm circles away from the clinch attempt
and Blimm counters with a nice low kick that buckles Miguel's knee momentarily.
Miguel avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Blimm throws a right and a left that both miss.
Blimm lands a nice leg kick that just misses Miguel's sensitive parts.

Miguel fails in his attempt to clinch.
Miguel tries to clinch but Blimm moves out of range.
Miguel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Blimm throws a right hand that Miguel ducks under and follows up with a left that Miguel also avoids with ease.

Blimm looking to score a takedown here. Miguel is defending well but Blimm drives through and ends up in Miguel's guard.
Blimm throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Blimm trying to control but Miguel is working from the bottom.
Blimm throwing strikes from guard but Miguel blocks nicely.
Blimm sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Blimm prevents Miguel from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Miguel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Blimm trying to control the position from guard on top but Miguel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miguel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Miguel wants to stand but Blimm is controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Blimm moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miguel moves in looking to clinch but Blimm pushes him off.
Nice takedown defense from Miguel. No joy for Blimm on that attempt.
Miguel is looking to clinch.
Blimm chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Miguel has taken the fight to the clinch.
Blimm blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Blimm crunches a lovely knee into Miguel's ribcage.
Miguel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Blimm walks away with a smile on his face. Miguel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Blimm lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Miguel misses with a takedown attempt

and Blimm counters with a crisp one two that drops Miguel! Blimm thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Miguel to his feet! Miguel is in big trouble!


Miguel is rocked!
Bobby Blimm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Miguel.
Miguel looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Miguel throws a body kick that misses.
Miguel is still on wobbly legs! Can Blimm finish him?
Miguel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Miguel seems to have recovered his senses.

Blimm shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Miguel's guard.

Blimm drops back looking for a leg! Miguel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Miguel manages to kick Blimm off! Blimm jumps back into Miguel's guard.
Blimm forces his way into half guard.

Blimm is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miguel controlling the position for now.
Blimm moves into full mount! Miguel won't be happy about that!
Blimm can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miguel is looking to escape.
Blimm raining down hammerfists from mount.
Blimm looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Blimm scoring with strikes but Miguel is staying in there.


That has opened up Sam Miguel's cut even more.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Miguel manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Blimm wants to work for an arm triangle but Miguel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Blimm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miguel is just riding it out for now. Blimm eventually gives up the hold.

Blimm seems to be looking for submissions.
Blimm is trying to control. Miguel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's six minutes gone in the round.
Miguel wants to get back to his feet.
Miguel is looking to control Blimm's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Miguel avoid being mounted?
Miguel is in trouble now - Blimm has advanced to mount!

Blimm has hold of Miguel's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Miguel manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Blimm is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Miguel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blimm throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Blimm putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


The cut above Sam Miguel's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Blimm raining down hammerfists from mount.


Sam Miguel's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sam Miguel's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Bobby Blimm!
Bobby Blimm retains his featherweight title!
