PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralf Krause (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunn comes to the cage accompanied by Fade to Black. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sam Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ralf Krause!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krause shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gunn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gunn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krause's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gunn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Krause can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Krause stands up from Gunn's guard - Krause perhaps looking for a knockout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gunn dives in and scores a takedown into Krause's guard.

Gunn stands and steps away. Krause gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Gunn fails with a takedown attempt.
Gunn throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sam Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gunn gets a double leg takedown into Krause's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gunn stands up and waves to Krause to follow him.
Gunn swats away the attempt to clinch by Krause.
Krause displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gunn.
Gunn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Krause as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Gunn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Krause or perhaps it was just good defense by Gunn which made him look bad.
Gunn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Krause sprawls well. Krause wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunn gets slowly back to his feet.

Gunn gets tackled into the cage by Krause. Krause maintains the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krause misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Krause gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gunn.
Gunn tries for a takedown. No joy.
Krause stalling against the cage.
Krause wants to take the fight to the mat but Gunn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Krause tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gunn smiles and moves away.

Krause gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gunn works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Gunn gets to his feet. Krause looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nice sprawl there from Krause as Gunn shoots in.

Gunn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Krause napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Krause gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Krause tries to roll over but Gunn keeps him under control.

Gunn seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gunn is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Krause has managed to free his arm - good work.

Krause manages to escape and get back to his feet!
No luck for Krause with that takedown attempt.
Krause is looking to clinch but Gunn is avoiding it.
Krause keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Krause sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gunn shoots in and bounces Krause off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gunn gets to his feet. Krause looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Gunn dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Krause ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Krause no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Krause is working an open guard so Gunn takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Krause stuffs the takedown.
Gunn shoots in for a double leg but Krause sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gunn tries to sprawl but Krause drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gunn moves into full guard.

Gunn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Krause defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Krause stands and throws Gunn's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Krause decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gunn throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Gunn shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Krause napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gunn decides to stand up, so the ref orders Krause to his feet.
Krause displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gunn.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Gunn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gunn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Krause tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gunn is in Krause's guard.
Gunn stops Krause from standing up.

Krause is working an open guard so Gunn takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gunn uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Krause has time to react.
Gunn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gunn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Krause circles away.
Krause doesn't manage to clinch there - Gunn circles away.

Gunn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gunn lands in his opponent's guard.

Krause had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gunn defends it easily.

Krause is looking for a triangle here but Gunn uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Gunn stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Krause leaves Gunn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Krause moves into the clinch successfully.

Krause's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gunn misses with a double jab.
Gunn closes the distance and clinches up with Krause, looking for a takedown. Gunn pushes Krause against the cage but Krause circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gunn scores with a kick to the midsection.

Gunn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Krause was covering up waiting for the punch and Gunn finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gunn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Krause closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gunn circles away.
Gunn is looking to land body kicks.

Krause clinches up with Gunn and pushes him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Krause jumps into guard, dragging Gunn to the mat.

Gunn stands and steps away. Krause gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Gunn gets to his feet - Krause follows without any prompting.
Gunn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Krause's waist but Krause gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gunn off to one side.
Krause throws a sloppy head kick and Gunn moves out of range easily.
Krause fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gunn throws a head kick but Krause moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gunn is defended easily by Krause.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Gunn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

so Krause counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Krause trying to control the position from guard on top but Gunn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Krause wants to pass the guard but Gunn is keeping the position.
Krause is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Krause wants to stand but Gunn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Gunn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Krause wants to get up but he can't break Gunn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Gunn has his feet on Krause's thighs here. He's pushed Krause off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Krause screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
