Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Kyshenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timur Rod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Timur Rod is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viktor Kyshenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Timur Rod!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Kyshenko as Rod shoots in.
Rod wants to clinch.
Rod fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kyshenko lands a high kick!


It looks like Timur Rod has been cut.
A head kick misses from Kyshenko.
Rod moves out of range of the body kick from Kyshenko.
Kyshenko shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rod eats them both and turns towards Kyshenko to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Rod throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rod.
Viktor Kyshenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timur Rod.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kyshenko throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kyshenko throws a leg kick which misses Rod's front leg but catches the back leg as Rod tries to avoid it.

Kyshenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rod misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rod throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kyshenko's waist but Kyshenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rod off to one side.
Kyshenko lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kyshenko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A right-left combo lands from Kyshenko.
Rod looks gassed!
Kyshenko closes the distance and lands a one-two.
A head kick misses from Kyshenko.
Kyshenko misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Rod gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kyshenko counters with a good low kick that Rod was not able to check.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kyshenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kyshenko throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rod.
Kyshenko throws a head kick that Rod semi-blocks.

Rod looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kyshenko!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kyshenko is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Rod controlling his opponent.
Kyshenko wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Kyshenko is bucking up trying to escape but Rod cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kyshenko wants to get back to his feet.
Kyshenko is trying to stand but he's just given Rod his back.
Kyshenko has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Will Rod go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Kyshenko manages to stand up with Rod still on his back. Eventually Rod drops to his feet and we're back in the standing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kyshenko closes the distance and clinches.
Kyshenko has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Kyshenko is trying to break the clinch but Rod has him pressed against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Rod is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Kyshenko tries to break free but Rod pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Kyshenko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Kyshenko throws a right hand that Rod ducks under and follows up with a left that Rod also avoids with ease.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kyshenko. Rod shrugs it off though.
Rod tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kyshenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rod is breathing heavily.
No luck for Rod with that takedown attempt.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rod fails in his attempt to clinch.

Kyshenko moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kyshenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kyshenko fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rod, pushing him back against the cage.
Kyshenko prevents Rod from breaking the clinch.

Kyshenko breaks from the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Rod.
Kyshenko lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rod takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Rod ducks right into an uppercut from Kyshenko.

Kyshenko connects with a high kick.
Kyshenko keeps Rod at a distance using the push kick.
Kyshenko lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rod backs up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Kyshenko.
Viktor Kyshenko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kyshenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rod circles away quickly and effectively.
Rod moves out of range of the strikes.
Kyshenko swats away the attempt to clinch by Rod.
Kyshenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Kyshenko.
Kyshenko with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kyshenko connects with a leg kick. Rod looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Rod gets tackled into the cage by Kyshenko. Kyshenko maintains the clinch.
Rod drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kyshenko pulls his leg out and moves away.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Kyshenko.
Kyshenko throws a head kick that half lands.
Rod pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kyshenko throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Rod to counter with a crisp jab.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kyshenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kyshenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Rod misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kyshenko moves into range and clinches up with Rod.
Rod goes for a takedown attempt but Kyshenko pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Both fighters circling a little - Kyshenko finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Donk. Kyshenko catches Rod right on the button with a cross.
Kyshenko stalks Rod and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rod's face. Rod staggers backwards, shaken.
Viktor Kyshenko is winning the standup battle so far.
Rod takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Kyshenko throws a sloppy head kick
and Rod counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Rod slips a jab and a cross from Kyshenko.
Rod avoids the head kick by Kyshenko.
Kyshenko connects with a solid leg kick.
Rod shoots in but Kyshenko avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A low kick from Kyshenko misses
and Rod counters with a left and a right that stings Kyshenko.
Nice body punch from Kyshenko.
Kyshenko throws a leg kick which misses Rod's front leg but catches the back leg as Rod tries to avoid it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rod has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Kyshenko.

and Rod counters with a left and a right that stings Kyshenko.

Kyshenko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Kyshenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kyshenko thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rod if he has to take too many more of those.

Rod is looking to break free of the clinch but Kyshenko has double underhooks.

Kyshenko manages to break the clinch.
Rod shoots in for a takedown but Kyshenko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Kyshenko counters with a big head kick but Rod shrugs it off.
Kyshenko scores with a kick to the midsection.
Rod blocks a head kick by Kyshenko.
Rod will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A solid leg kick lands there for Kyshenko.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kyshenko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
