Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Smashing Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marty Block (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marty Block has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Smashing Machine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marty Block!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machine lands a nice looking body shot.
Block showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Machine.
Machine looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Block dodges the punch combination from Machine.
Machine pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A punch combination from Machine misses.
Machine swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd cheers as Machine lands an impressive looking overhand right. Block doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Marty Block has been cut.
Block avoids a punch combination nicely.
Machine throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Block gets a takedown into half guard.
Machine wants to get back to his feet.
Block throwing shots but Machine is blocking nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Block scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Block looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Machine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machine looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Machine is breathing heavily.
Ground and pound from Block.
Block tries to pass the half guard into mount. Machine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Machine manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Machine scores with a jab to the head.

Block bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Block goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Machine rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Block's guard! Nice work there by Machine!

Block is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Block keeping moving, preventing Machine from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machine trying to control but Block is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Block closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Block lands in his opponent's guard.
Block pushing down on Machine's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Machine is trying to maintain the position but Block is very close to passing his half guard.
Block seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Machine does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Machine is looking for a sweep. Block is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Block landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Machine has hold of Block's hands but Block slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Block lands strikes from half guard.
Block looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Machine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Block is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Block slips a nice elbow through Machine's hands, connecting with Machine's forehead.
Block landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Machine is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Block's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Block's back!

Block tries to escape but Machine has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Block manages to reverse the position and now he's in Machine's guard. Nice work there by Block.
Block postures up and lands a big shot to Machine's brow.
Block must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Block wants to control from the top but Machine keeps moving.

Block stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Machine has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Block manages to get his head free but now Machine has transitioned to an armbar! Block grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Machine! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Smashing Machine!
