PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dee Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - If you want Blood (You've got it). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Joseph throws a leg kick but Pain checks it.
Joseph avoids the body shot from Pain.
Joseph lands a nice shot that snaps Pain's head back.
Joseph waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pain.
Joseph cracks Pain with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Pain swings away with a body shot that misses
and Joseph counters with a left to the body.
Joseph tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A bone on bone clash there as Joseph blocks the leg kick.

Joseph closes the distance and clinches.
Joseph working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Joseph can't find room to land a body shot as Pain controls the action.
Pain works on Joseph's body with a couple of short punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pain is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head punch on the inside from Joseph fails to land.
Pain blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pain lands an uppercut.

Pain is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Joseph can't fight it off and eventually Pain manages to take the fight to the floor. Joseph looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Joseph keeping moving, preventing Pain from controlling successfully.
Joseph is pulling down on Pain's head. It's preventing any offense from Pain, at least for the moment.
Joseph really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Joseph wants to sweep here but Pain controlling him for the moment.
Pain looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Pain won't allow Joseph to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Joseph misses with a combination
and Pain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A bone on bone clash there as Joseph blocks the leg kick.
Joseph buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Joseph throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Joseph throws a hook but Pain avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pain sizes up Joseph with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Joseph keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joseph swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joseph fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Pain looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Joseph!
Joseph is trying desperately to improve position.
Pain punching from mount but Joseph doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Joseph tries to hold on but Pain pushes him away.
Joseph is looking to get to half guard.
Pain scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Joseph?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain avoids the attempt from Joseph to control.
Pain fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like Anthony Joseph has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Joseph is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joseph tries to reverse the position but Pain maintains control.
Pain lands a big shot there that rocks Joseph but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Pain with a couple of short strikes.


The cut above Anthony Joseph's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Anthony Joseph's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dee Pain!
Dee Pain retains his light heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Dee Pain thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
