Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Jorgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugh Jorgan!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorgan misses with a takedown
and Carter counters with a series of strikes. Jorgan will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hugh Jorgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jorgan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Carter gets caught flat footed, as Jorgan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Carter wants to stand but Jorgan is controlling the position.
Jorgan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jorgan wants to pass the guard but Carter is keeping the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hugh Jorgan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Carter shoots in for a takedown but Jorgan shows good takedown defense.

Jorgan shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Jorgan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
John Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugh Jorgan.
Jorgan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jorgan somewhat.
Jorgan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side.

Jorgan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Carter tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jorgan is in Carter's guard.
Carter has his hands on Jorgan's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Jorgan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hugh Jorgan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jorgan fails in his attempt to clinch.

Jorgan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carter sprawls well initially but Jorgan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jorgan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jorgan stalling.
Carter is positioning himself well to prevent Jorgan advancing to mount.
Carter is looking to escape.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jorgan is looking to advance position but Carter won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hugh Jorgan was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Jorgan shoots in and drives through. Carter sprawls well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jorgan lands with a hook. Carter tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like John Carter has been cut.
Jorgan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jorgan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carter circles away.
Jorgan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carter pinned against the cage. Carter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jorgan looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jorgan fails with a takedown attempt.
Jorgan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Carter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hugh Jorgan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Carter's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Carter tries to close the distance and clinch but Jorgan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jorgan shoots for a double leg takedown but Carter sprawls well. He's pushed Jorgan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
John Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Carter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jorgan tries to avoid it but Carter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jorgan to the ground. Jorgan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jorgan looks for a takedown but Carter sprawls well.

Carter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jorgan is trying to improve his position.

You can see the frustration on Jorgan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jorgan is not content to let Carter control the position.
Hugh Jorgan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Carter decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jorgan to his feet.
Jorgan fails to land the takedown.
John Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugh Jorgan.

and Carter counters with a head kick.
Jorgan is breathing heavily.

Carter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jorgan defends it nicely.

Carter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jorgan to the mat! Jorgan manages to get full guard.


Jorgan is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Carter stands up and waves to Jorgan to follow him.
Jorgan is still on wobbly legs! Can Carter finish him?

Carter closes the distance looking for a takedown. Jorgan stuffs it but Carter still has hold of him. Carter picks Jorgan up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Carter slams Jorgan to the floor and that's really hurt Jorgan - he doesn't know where he is! Carter throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Carter!
